Interior Designer Fail: Curtains - Design Thoughts STUDIO

I’m so embarrassed. Seriously. I finally bought new curtains for my living room. My husband made an awesome curtain rod to fit along the entire top of our 12′-3″ windows. ( A DIY post on that later) I thought I was Right on with the measurements, and don’t even ask me how I screwed up..but I did. SO, finally we began to hang the first curtain, and I immediately was bummed. Too Short. Its like if a baker made cupcakes but burned the batch, or if a mechanic fixed his own car wrong…or..if a nurse passed out at the sight of blood ? ( okay went too far with that one..) anyway I posted this picture on Intsagram..

And immediately, my peeps jumped in to help!! Thats what I love about this social media community that we are all building..Its okay to be completely honest, and more than likely, people will jump in with some great ideas!! The first idea came from Rosalia from @tapestrydecor on instagram, she suggested letting out the hem!! GREAT idea!! Then, Rebecca from @lilhousecould on Instagram ( her blog “The lil huse that could” is a daily reader for me) and Merry from Designology, both suggested sewing on an extension and making these color blocked curtains!! YESSSS!!!! THATS IT!! thank you ladies for great solutions!! So of course, I promptly got on Pinterest to see some ideas! Here are a few that caught my eye (mostly for the height of color) !

More than one color? I’m not sure. All I DO know..is I’m Scurred. I’m not a very good sewer, and in fact I don’t even have a sewing machine, but I have really been wanting to get one. I have access to one…..so stay tuned. Hopefully this will be a Interior Designer Fail that turns into a treasure 🙂 Happy Hump Day!!
