Nashville or Bust: HOME SWEET HOME! our journey

December 4, 2012 Comments : 11

We are back in New york with keys to our new Nashville home in hand!! YEEEHHAAWW!!

I am so so so excited to report, the home we were suppose to get, found us on the last day of house hunting!! We started our house hunting journey on Saturday morning, with our first appointment at 9am. We were excited, hopeful and ultimately, let down when we walked through the doors!! We remained hopeful that one of our 4 appointments for Saturday, would be the perfect one. Not so much. One house after the other, was gross, or located in a bad spot, or just didn’t feel right to us. We took a much needed break from house hunting to drive around with our friends ( Jesse and Emily) to a few of their favorite spots…while driving around, in and out of one cute neighborhood after another, one cute historical district after another, one sweet little village after another, we saw it…..a tiny little for rent sign in a window of an awesome brick ranch on a quiet road, 1.7 miles away from a HUGE park!! I got out right away and started looking through the windows..it looked pretty big, and we didn’t know if it was in our price range. It was the only house we looked at NOT listed with a realtor. We called, they met us the next day, and an hour later we were being handed the keys to our new home!! We are SO EXCITED!!!ย  As soon as I walked in, it felt like Home to me, even though the kitchen is dated, the bathroom is gross ( not dirty gross but OLD gross) and the fireplace room needs new carpet and paint. What I saw when I looked at it, was a home filled with our families memories, of the first year in Nashville! it felt right. it feels right, and we are so excited!! AND i have so many things to blog about now!!!
Here are the homes stats

1500 sf.
3 bedroom
(1) bath
Fenced in HUGE back yard
Great school system
Fireplace
Den
Quiet neighborhood
3 miles from 5 pts in East Nashville
1.7 miles from Shelby bottoms Park ( think huge Dog park, pond, running paths)
5.2 miles to downtown Nashville
4 miles to Grants work

Here is the first list of what I want to accomplish in this house!
-Paint Paneling in Fireplace Room
-Attempt to cover brick with contact paper ( this WILL be a trial and error idea!)
-Replace carpet in Fireplace room
-Paint Counter top and backsplash in Kitchen ( seriously going to try my hand at a granite paint kit!! thats right!!)
– Painting the tile and re-epoxy the bathtub and sink in bathroom
I just started a Pinterest board labeled Nashville House, if y’all want to follow along ( I through that Y’all in, just to get use to it)

ย

Liam picked the biggest room ๐Ÿ™‚

ย Third bedroom, knotty Pine with Built-ins ( shout out to all our Michigan peeps!!lol)!

ย And I would like to end with the ugliest areas of the home, because after I am done with them, it will BLOW.YOUR. MIND.!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Cant wait to get started!!!! Hope you are all having a great week so far!!

that’s awesome they are letting you tinker with the rental ๐Ÿ™‚ We let our tenants do the same thing. As long as they don’t move any walls, they really can’t make a 1960s era ranch house that much *worse* LOL
