Polka dot Christmas Wrap: Do it Yourself

December 15, 2012 Comment : 1

I need simple this year. I mean super simple. and super inexpensive. So when it came to wrapping a few gifts that we needed to bring to my husbands Christmas party, I decided to use what I have. Here is how you can create polka dot Christmas wrap on the cheap!!

You will need:

White Kraft Paper
Scissors
Pencil with eraser
Acrylic paint

I started out by using Liams roll of Ikea Kraft paper ( 1 roll for $14), I cut it to size, wrapped and voila..a blank canvas!!

Select acrylic paint. I use acrylic because the color is better, but you could use any type of paint! I had this paint left over from our golden pumpkin project. So I wanted to use it up!!

Use the eraser to make dots all over the paper
(This would be SUPER cute also if for a birthday party using bright colors)

all I had was Silver cord, so that’s what I used!! What I WANTED to use was my colorful Bakers twine, but it has long since been packed away getting ready for our move, so I had to move on!! I’m really happy with the way it turned out!

I just have to mention,  On this Somber Saturday, it feels a little strange to share such a trite DIY, when so many families in CT are suffering this morning. I know we all need to carry on with our holiday wrapping and buying, but it feels sad, right? As I was making each dot on this paper, and Liam was watching Mickey Mouse Christmas in the other room, I couldn’t help but get choked up at how “NORMAL” our lives continue to be. This is how all of those families felt that awful morning. Normal. And they are now forced to get used to a different normal. I just want to send out my sincere, love, comfort and hope to everyone who is suffering.  I hope that as everyone who wast there, continues to pray, and wrap the families in love and light, they feel just the tiniest bit of support.

Love, Kim
